Laser cleaning is a process where surface-level dirt, contaminants, and impurities are removed (cleaned off) by the use of laser irradiation. The intention is to clean the surface of a material, which is in contact with the laser.
An object may need cleaning for a variety of reasons. A common reason is a need for cleaning after another industrial process, e.g. drilling or cutting – where the fiber laser will clean the surface for aesthetic and efficiency reasons.
Additionally, fiber lasers are useful in cleaning off surface-level contaminants, which may have arisen due to an object lying idle for a period (general dirt, maybe even rust on metals).
Due to the sensitivity with which fiber lasers operate, they are even capable of cleaning the most intricate or textured surfaces.
